1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Journaira ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service. These terms apply to all users, whether on a free trial or paid subscription.
2. Account Terms
- You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.
- One person or legal entity may not maintain more than one account.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
3. Financial Data Disclaimer
Journaira is a trading journal and analytics tool, NOT a financial adviser, broker, or investment platform.
- The tax calculations, including Capital Gains Tax estimates under the 2025 Finance Act, are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute tax advice.
- Inflation-adjusted returns are calculated using publicly available NBS data and may not reflect your exact financial situation.
- Tax-loss harvesting suggestions are analytical tools, not recommendations to buy or sell securities.
- You should consult a qualified tax professional or financial adviser before making financial decisions based on information from the Service.
4. Subscription and Payments
- Journaira offers a 30-day free trial. After the trial, a paid subscription is required to access premium features.
- Payments are processed securely through Paystack in Nigerian Naira (NGN).
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time. Access to premium features continues until the end of the current billing period.
- We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with 30 days notice.
5. Nigerian Tax Disclaimer
Journaira provides estimated CGT calculations based on our interpretation of the 2025 Finance Act and its dual threshold system (proceeds threshold of ₦150,000,000 and gains threshold of ₦10,000,000). These calculations:
- Are estimates only and may not match your actual tax liability
- Use FIFO (First In, First Out) methodology as the default cost basis method
- Do not account for all possible exemptions, deductions, or special circumstances
- Should not be submitted as official tax filings without professional review
Journaira is not a registered tax agent with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (NRS). Always consult a qualified Nigerian tax professional for tax filing and compliance.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of Nigerian law
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or data
- Upload malicious files or attempt to compromise the Service
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
- Resell or redistribute access to the Service without our written consent
7. Data and Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of information as described therein.
8. Termination
- You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected].
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, with or without notice.
- Upon termination, your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian law, Journaira shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to financial losses resulting from reliance on tax calculations or analytics provided.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.
11. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or through a notice on the Service at least 14 days before they take effect.
